2013 Raleigh Relays Schedule
BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell's men's and women's track and field team's continue the 2013 outdoor slate with the 2013 adidas Raleigh Relays hosted by North Carolina State on March 29-30.
The Camels will be competing at Paul H. Derr Track against athletes from 87 NCAA schools, as well as a contingent of prominent club and professional teams.
Friday's action begins at 8:45 a.m. with the men's seeded 3,000 meter steeplechase and concludes after the men's seeded 10,000 meter run at 10:35 p.m.
Competition resumes on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. with the women's seeded 10,000 meter run, and wraps up after the women's 4x400 meter relays at 4:45 p.m.
Last time out, Campbell recorded eleven top-10 finishes in route to having two athletes winning Big South weekly awards.
Junior Marcus Thompson (Nassau, Bahamas) set two personal records on the day as he finished third in the men's 200 meter dash with a time of 21.39 and finished fourth in the 100 meter dash with a time of 10.84 to earn Big South Conference Choice Hotel's Men's Track Athlete of the Week.
His 200 meter time is currently No. 2 in the Big South and is good for No. 20 in the NCAA East Region on the year.
Lynette Akai, a sophomore from Newburgh, Ind., crossed the line in 56.70 to take third in the women's 400 meter dash to earn Big South Conference Choice Hotel's Women's Track Athlete of the Week. She currently ranks No. 2 on the Big South Performance list this season.
Freshman Asia Olds (Clearwater, Fla.) claimed fourth in the women's 400 meters with a personal record time of 57.37.
The women's 4x100 meter relay team of Olds, Mariah Collins, Jacquelyn Reid, and Akai finished in fourth with a time of 48.26. The foursome also came in sixth in the women's 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:56.96.
Junior Chris Cleare (Angier, N.C.) claimed sixth in the men's long jump with a mark of 6.74m/22' 1.50".
Collins, a junior from Kathleen, Ga., took sixth in the women's 100 meter hurdles with a time of 14.78. She also won the women's participation 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:05.83.
CU had two freshman claim top-10 honors in the women's triple jump. Jaszlyn Jenkins (Kansas City, Mo.) finished third with a personal record ark of 11.09m/36' 4.75". Angel Spencer (Lillington, N.C.) took seventh with a personal record jump of 1095m/35' 11.25".
The men's 4x100 meter relay team, featuring Bryson Cartwright, Stanley Hicks, Tashinga Chitambira, and Thompson, finished seventh with a time of 43.83.
Junior Rudi Fate (Shaw AFB, S.C.) won the women's participation 100 meter hurdles with a time of 15.55.
After the 2013 NC State Raleigh Relays, Campbell will travel to either the Florida Relays in Gainesville, Fla. on April 5-6 or the Duke Invite in Durham, NC. on April 5-6.
