Campbell University rising sophomore Mikko Lehtovuori capped his summer break this week by winning the Finnish U21 Match Play Championship at Golf Pirkkala in Tampere, Finland.
A native of Lahti, Finland, Lehtovuori tied for first place in the 18-hole qualifier at even-par 72. He then won four matches to secure one of the top two events in his country in the U21 age group.
Lehtovuori defeated Tommi Vaherla 2-and-1 in the first round for what proved to be his closest match. He then knocked off Matias Hynonen and Joonas Lehtola by identical 4-and-2 scores in the quarters and semifinals.
