GREENSBORO, N.C.  – Campbell was outscored 13-2 in the first five minutes and could not complete a second-half rally in a 62-47 loss at North Carolina A&T on Monday night. Junior guard Kiera Gaines (Mechanicsville, Va.) tallied her fifth double-double of the season with 15 points and 11 rebounds at Corbett Sports Center.

North Carolina A&T (10-2) forced 28 turnovers in the contest, leading to 28 points in transition. Tracy King posted a game-high 17 points followed by Ariel Bursey and Debbie Smith with 11 and 10 points each.

Both teams shot 37 pct. during the game, but the Aggies made six three-point field goals, three more than the Lady Camels. Campbell (8-6) did regroup at halftime and shot 11-of-27 in the second stanza, even though N.C. A&T posted a 35-32 edge on the scoreboard.

The Aggies controlled the boards with 19 offensive rebounds and tallied a 42-38 advantage overall. Despite being outrebounded, Campbell (8-6) went to the post often and registered a 22-14 advantage in the paint.

Senior forward Roslyn Presley (Petersburg, Va.) went 6-of-9 from the field and scored 12 points. Five points each by senior forward Ashley James (Round Rock, Texas) and sophomore guard RaeChaun Edwards (Spring Grove, Va.) were the secondary scorers for the Lady Camels.

James and Presley each grabbed six boards in the loss.

A four-point performance was registered by sophomore guard Jessica Pone (High Point, N.C.) off the bench in the final four minutes. All 14 players that dressed saw action on the floor during the last two minutes.

The Lady Camels did force nine steals and 21 turnovers during the contest that totaled 49 miscues.

N.C. A&T held a 27-15 advantage at the break after forcing 17 turnovers in the opening stanza. Campbell kept the game close by limiting the Aggies to 36.7 pct. from the floor.

Campbell begins a two-game homestand at Gore Arena/John W. Pope Jr. Convocation Center on Thursday against Charleston Southern at 7 p.m.
