CONWAY, S.C.- Women's soccer fell to Coastal Carolina Wednesday night, 0-2, dropping its last regular season away match of 2014. The team snapped its five-game unbeaten streak, the longest streak since the 2011 campaign.

Campbell gave up the two goals in two minutes to the Chanticleers and ultimately was unable to answer.

Forward Kacey Kelley, the second highest scorer in the Big South, found the upper right corner of the net after a cross from midfielder Camille Christie in the 15th minute.

Two minutes later, forward Shelby Evans deflected the ball past junior goalkeeper Alexis Connors, playing it off her chest and into the net, again on a cross into the box.

The Camels remain third in the Big South Conference with 11 points, while Coastal Carolina moves into a two-way tie for first with Liberty with 16 points.

"We played well and we gave them a fight," head coach Stuart Horne said. "The problem was we gave up two soft goals early in the game; it was just a miscommunication.

"I thought we were playing better until the goal, then we were chasing the rest of the half. We had a plan, we were doing fine and we got our chances."

The Camels tallied six shots, one on goal, against the Chanticleers Wednesday night. Coastal Carolina recorded 10 shots, two on goal.

Redshirt junior forward Ashley Clark and sophomore forward Nicole Connolly led the team with two shots apiece; senior midfielder Alexis Prada and sophomore defender Anna Natt och Dag recorded one shot each.

Connors played all 90 minutes in net for the Camels and now claims a 1.19 goals against average, and a .800 save percentage this season.

Campbell will host the Winthrop Eagles Saturday at 7 p.m. at Eakes Athletics Complex for its 2014 Homecoming match.
