Crema named Big South Defensive Player of the Week

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Junior libero Mary Crema has been named the Big South Defensive Player of the Week for matches played the final week of the regular season.

Crema recorded 44 digs in two matches last week to average 6.29 digs per set. Crema's defense led Campbell to a 3-1 win over Charleston Southern, which secured the Camels' spot in the Big South Volleyball Conference Championship this week. Against the Bucs, she notched 26 digs through four sets for a 6.50 average. Crema also claimed five assists on the weekend.

"Mary has done a tremendous job solidifying our defense week in and week out," head coach Greg Goral.  "She was exceptional this past weekend in helping us secure a bid to the conference tournament." 

Crema and the No. 8 Camels will take on No. 1Radford Thursday at 12 p.m. in the opening game of the Big South Volleyball Championship at the HTC Center in Conway, S.C.
