HILTON HEAD, S.C. – Amanjyot Singh is tied for 17th individually and Campbell sits in 14th place on the team leader board following Monday's first day of the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate men's golf tournament.
In an event where only one golfer in the 90-player field is in red numbers heading into Tuesday's final round, Singh (71-79—150) sits seven strokes off the lead.
A senior from Rajasthan, India, Singh shared the lead at one-under-par after 18 holes. However, he was seven over on the afternoon to fall off the pace.
Davis Parker of Presbyterian (71-72—143) owns a 3-stroke lead over a trio of golfers – USC-Aiken teammates Brandon Robinson-Thompson and Kyle Godsman, plus Adam Ball of VCU.
Campbell freshman Craig Hornberger (77-74—151) is tied for 24th and leads the field in par-five scoring (-4). Sophomore Mikko Lehtovuori shot 80-82—162, junior Grant Houser carded an 81-82—163 and freshman Gaston Bertinotti 164 (80-84) Monday.
USC-Aiken, ranked fifth nationally by Golfstat, sits atop the team leader board at 17-over 593, six strokes ahead of Charleston Southern (299-300—599). Campbell shot 308-317—625, seven strokes in front of Ohio in the 17-school field.
Tuesday's final round begins with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
