HILTON HEAD, S.C. – Craig Hornberger and Amanjyot Singh produced top-10 individual finishes and Campbell moved up to 11th place on the team leader board following Tuesday's final round of the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate.
A freshman from Lancaster, Pa., Hornberger notched his third top-10 showing in six collegiate outings with a sixth-place tie. Hornberger shot 77-74-71—222 to finish 10 strokes behind individual medalist Adam Ball of VCU (73-73-66—212).
Davis Parker of Presbyterian was runner-up (71-72-70—213) as only two of the 90 golfers in the field finished in red numbers on the par-72, 6913-yard Wexford Plantation Golf Club layout.
Hornberger led the field in par-5 scoring (7-under) and made 10 birdies (tied for 7th) over 54 holes.
Singh tied for ninth place (71-79-73—223) after sharing the first round lead. The senior from Rajasthan, India earned his second top-10 showing of the season.
USC-Aiken, the fifth-ranked Division II team in the country, claimed team honors at 24-over 888 (297-296-295), one stroke ahead of runner-up Presbyterian (300-301-288—889). Campbell shot 308-317-292—917 to move up three spots after Monday's opening two rounds.
Campbell freshman Gaston Bertinotti was one-over Tuesday in his third collegiate round and finished at 237 (80-84-73) along with sophomore teammate Mikko Lehtovuori (80-82-75). Junior Grant Houser shot 81-82-79—242.
Campbell returns to action Mar. 3-4 at the Samford Intercollegiate at Hoover (Ala.) Country Club.
