BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell swept the doubles point then won five singles matches to earn a 6-1 victory over North Carolina Central Thursday at the Nisbet Tennis Center.
Tamara Stanic improved to 5-0 on the spring season, while Ewa Telenga ran her singles win streak to four as Campbell (4-2) won its fourth-straight dual match.
Aissa Muamba won the lone singles point for NC Central (0-6) with a straight-sets triumph at the second singles point.
At the top singles position, Karolina Chernaya split sets with Rebecca Wood, then won a super tie-breaker (10-5) to run her record to 5-1 this spring. Natasha Afridi, Amelie Reichart, Stanic and Telenga scored straight-sets victories.
Chernaya and Ana Maria Ortiz remained unbeaten (4-0) at the top doubles slot, while Afridi and Stanic paired to improve to 4-0 at number two thanks to a 7-6 tiebreaker. Claudia Ortiz and Reichart combined for an 8-3 victory in the third doubles position.
Campbell opens Big South Conference play Saturday in a 1:00 p.m. start at Liberty.
