LYNCHBURG, VA. – Liberty won the doubles point; then earned a trio of three-set victories in singles to rally for a 4-3 Big South Conference women's tennis victory Saturday over visiting Campbell.
The Flames (6-2, 1-0) won all three doubles matches, needing only a split of the six singles contests to earn the dual victory.
However, Campbell jumped in front 3-1 behind straight-sets wins from Karolina Chernaya, Natasha Afridi and Tamara Stanic. Stanic improved to 6-0 this spring at the fourth position, while Chernaya won her third-straight at number one.
Liberty pulled level through victories at number-two singles by Maria Khval and number-five by Nicola Wellman. The decisive point came at the sixth position, where Brittany Yang defeated Campbell's Ewa Telenga 6-3, 1-6, 6-1.
Campbell (4-3, 0-1), which saw its four-match win streak halted, returns to action Tuesday when the Camels host UNC Wilmington at 1:00 p.m.
