BUIES CREEK, N.C. – UNC Wilmington won the doubles point and claimed four singles matches to defeat Campbell in a non-conference women's tennis match Tuesday at the Nisbet Tennis Center.
UNCW (5-2) won its second straight outing on the strength of straight-sets wins from Angie Sekely and Olga Blank at the top two singles positions and Christine Kharkevich and Hollie Champion at the fifth and sixth spots.
Tamara Stanic improved to 7-0 in singles this spring for Campbell (4-4), which dropped its second-straight outing. The junior from Montenegro dropped the opening set to Kelly Cameron 6-4 before rallying for a 6-4 victory in the second. Stanic led 1-0 in the third when Cameron retired.
Campbell senior Natasha Afridi won her third-straight match and improved to 5-2 at the third singles spot.
The Camels open their Spring Break trip on Saturday against Mercer in Savannah, Ga.
