ORLANDO, FLA. – Lisbeth Brooks is tied for 17th and Campbell is in 12th place after Sunday's first round of the UCF Challenge intercollegiate women's golf tournament at Eagle Creek Golf Club.
A junior from Waunakee, Wis., Brooks finished the opening round at even-par 72 on the 6349-yard Eagle Creek layout. She made four birdies and is one stroke in front of teammate Kaylin Yost, who is tied for 26th at one-over 73.
Yost eagled the par-five 13th hole Sunday and added a pair of birdies. Campbell senior Babette Lemberger had 15 pars in a three-over round of 75 and is tied for 49th. Ali Prazak is tied for 83rd (78) and Maria Jose Benavides is tied for 100th after a first round 81.
Host and 24th-ranked Central Florida is six under through 18 holes (282) and leads the 19-team field by five strokes over No.-33 Miami (287).
Fanny Cnops of UCF carded a 5-under 67 and stands one stroke ahead of Gabriella Wahl of ETSU and Casey Kennedy of GRU Augusta with 36 holes to play.
Campbell was tied with New Mexico at 10-over-par (298) after Sunday's play, two strokes ahead of Kennesaw State and Georgia State and three clear of East Carolina.
The Camels will be paired with Kennesaw State and Georgia State for Monday's second round, which begins at 9:00 a.m. with a shotgun start.
