RADFORD, VA. – Campbell dropped the doubles point, but swept all six singles matches en route to a 6-1 victory Thursday at Radford.
The Camels (9-5, 3-1 Big South) extended their win streak to four dual matches as Karolina Chernaya, Tamara Stanic and Ana Maria Ortiz all won three-set battles. Natasha Afridi, Amelie Reichart and Ewa Telenga won in straight sets for the Camels, who have lost only two team points during their win streak.
Radford (4-8, 0-2) won tight matches at the top two positions to claim the doubles point. However, the Camels evened the match after Afridi's 6-4, 6-2 victory at the second singles post. Chernaya improved to 11-2 on the spring season by winning her fifth-straight singles match with a 7-5, 2-6, 6-1 decision at the top rung.
Ortiz and Stanic both extended win streaks to four matches, while Stanic ran her dual record to 12-1 this spring. Ortiz and Telenga remained unbeaten this spring at the third doubles spot (4-0).
Thursday's match marked the first of three in as many days for the Camels who host Charlotte Friday (2:00) and Presbyterian Saturday (10:00 a.m.).
