CORAL GABLES, FLA. – Kaylin Yost tied for seventh place individually and Campbell finished fourth on the team leader board after Wednesday's final round of the Hurricane Invitational.
Yost produced her fourth top-10 showing of the year and placed among the top-20 individuals for the seventh time in eight tournaments. A senior from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Yost shot 70-73-72—215 to finish at two-over-par on the par-71, 6092-yard Biltmore Golf Course layout.
Daniela Darquea of host Miami (68-72-71—211) won individual honors in a one-hole playoff against Sasikam On-lam of Iowa State (69-69-73—211). Avery George from Middle Tennessee was third (69-70-73—212) as only three players in the 95-golfer field finished in red numbers.
No.-18 Northwestern (290-284-290—864) won team honors by one stroke over 25th-ranked Iowa State (285-284-294—865). No.-30 Miami was third (284-295-295—874), three in front of Campbell (289-296-292—877). Kennesaw State (289-297-292—878) finished fifth, and East Carolina (290-298-294—882) sixth in the 18-team event.
The showing was Campbell's fifth top-five effort in eight tournaments this season.
Yost had four birdies Wednesday, 10 in the 54-hole tourney. Her score on par-5 holes (-5) was second-best in the field, while she tied for third in par-4 scoring (+2).
Freshman Nadine White earned a top-20 finish (T19th) in her collegiate tournament debut (76-70-73—219). Her nine birdies tied for eighth in the event. On Wednesday, the native of Brisbane, Australia made 11 pars and three birdies.
Junior Lisbeth Brooks tied for 22nd place (71-76-73—220) with CU sophomore Tahnia Ravnjak (73-74-73—220), who competed as an individual. Brooks tied for third in par-five scoring (-4) overall and played Wednesday's final 9 holes at 3-under. Ravnjak made 9 birdies over the three days to tie with White for eighth in the field.
Freshman Louise Latorre tied for 48th place (76-77-74—227) after recording three birdies and nine pars over the last 18 holes. Senior Ali Prazak tied for 70th (72-84-76—232) and eagled the par-5 first hole Wednesday.
Campbell returns to action Mar. 14-16 at the 3M Jaguar Invitatonal, hosted by GRU Augusta at Forest Hills Golf Club.
