BUIES CREEK, N.C. – After persistent rain in the area, Saturday's game against Presbyterian has been canceled.
The Blue Hose and Camels were able to split the first two games of the series with the Blue Hose claiming Game 1 with an 11-2 victory and CU taking Game 2 with a 4-0 shutout.
CU avenged the Game 1 loss behind homeruns from
Olivia Scarborough and
Shaela Churchill to give
Katie Baker all the support she would need in the circle. Churchill's three-run homerun in the 4
th inning broke up a pitcher's duel. Scarborough added a solo shot to give CU a 4-0 lead. Baker pitched a complete game only allowing two hits and striking out eight Blue Hose hitters.
The Blue Hose pulled away late in the first game after trailing 2-0 on Brittany Bruce's second homerun of the season. After Bruce's two-run shot, the Blue Hose answered by scoring in the final four innings. Hope Rogers paced the Blue Hose with two homeruns while Kirby Legacki broke a tie with a bases clearing triple in the 6th inning.
The Camels will host UNC-Wilmington on Tuesday afternoon for a doubleheader starting at 4 p.m. for their regular season home finale.
