FARMVILLE, VA. – A four-goal run in the second half wasn't enough for the Camels, as Longwood defeated Campbell 18-7 in the Big South quarterfinal Wednesday afternoon.

Despite having the 27-23 edge on shots and 19-8 margin on draw controls, CU was unable to hold a lead in the game.

Erica Hitch led the Camels (7-9, 2-5) with a goal, four assists, and six shots. Kaki Armiger scored twice for Campbell, the only Camel with more than one goal.

Slated for 1 p.m., the game was delayed until about 3:40 p.m. due to severe weather, and only six minutes into play with Longwood leading 1-0, the field had to be cleared yet again for nearly an hour.

The Lancers (9-9, 5-2) jumped out to a 4-0 lead 10 minutes into the game. Maddy Dolinar put the Camels on the board with 17:45 on the clock to cut the Longwood lead to 4-1.

Longwood answered with three straight goals, before Annie Cook stopped the streak with 12:14 to go in the first half, as the Lancers held the 7-2 margin.

The Lancers scored five more times before the break. Rebecca Sheinfeld netted the final goal of the half with just 16 seconds to go, and Longwood took the 12-3 lead into the locker room.

The first two goals after the intermission came from the Lancers, who went up 14-3 four minutes into the second half.

Campbell then pieced together a four-goal, nine-minute run to make the score 14-7. Armiger scored twice in the effort, while Hitch and Hayley Carroll each added one.

That was as close as the Camels came to catching the Lancers, as Longwood scored four times in the final five minutes to secure the 18-7 win, advancing to the semifinal round.

Brittany Kincer finished with one save in 23 minutes, while Merredith Bechler stopped four Lancer shots in 37 minutes.

Kincer finished the season with 786 minutes in the cage, making 110 saves and owning a 38.6 save percentage.

Taelar Errington and Dolinar each tallied five draw controls, while Armiger picked up four ground balls.

The Camels finished their second season in school history with one more win overall and in conference than in 2013. Errington led the Camels with 36 goals, while Hitch totaled 50 points, including 18 assists.

Dolinar finished with a team-high 37 ground balls, while she and Erin O'Hara caused 17 turnovers each. Cloey Henchcliffe won 31 draw controls on the season.
