BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell announced Wednesday that it will take the field in 2014 in newly designed football helmets.
For the first time, the Camels will don a white helmet on the football field after three variations of a black lid over the program's six modern era seasons.
In another pair of firsts, the CU helmet will feature the Campbell "Camel head C" logo on the right side, and the player's number on the left. The orange Camel is accompanied by a black "C", while the opposite number is black with an orange outline.
A thick black stripe with an orange outline runs down the middle, thinning to a point in the back of the helmet. Campbell can be read along the backplate in black.
The white helmet will also have a black facemask.

The Camels went 3-9 overall in 2013, finishing the year with a 47-14 win at Davidson. Campbell set 21 offensive team records in Mike Minter's first season as head coach, including rushing yards (2,800), passing yards (2,436), and total offense (5,236), four defensive, including sacks (27), and three on special teams.
Senior Kurt Odom became Campbell's first football All-America selection, earning Third Team honors from the Sports Network. Odom was also named First Team All-PFL while seven Camels took home honorable mention nods. Odom, along with Adam Lutz, Ben Bolling and Hunter Somerville were also First Team Academic All-PFL. Michael Rudisill and Lucas Smith both earned Second Team honors.
The Camels will open the 2014 season at home on Thursday night, August 28 in Buies Creek against Charlotte. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
