BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Women's soccer has been picked to finish the 2014 season ninth in the Big South as announced by the conference on Tuesday. The Fighting Camels finished last season in the same position with a 7-11 (3-8 Big South) record.
Campbell tallied a vote each for sixth and seventh place, three for eighth, four ninth-place marks and two votes for 11th in the conference, racking up 37 points.
The defending champion Liberty Flames were unanimously picked to repeat atop the conference with 11 first place votes and 121 points, followed by Radford and Longwood with 101 and 90 points, respectively; Coastal Carolina garnered enough votes for fourth place with 88 points, while in-state rival High Point rounded out the top five with 81 points.
Winthrop tallied 77 points for sixth place, while Presbyterian College and Charleston Southern tied for seventh with 40 points.
Following the ninth-place Camels, UNC Asheville garnered a tenth-place vote with 28 points. Gardner-Webb was picked to finish last in the conference, earning 23 points from votes.
Campbell begins conference play Sept. 24 as they travel to Asheville to take on the Bulldogs; kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
