DAFUSKIE ISLAND, S.C. –Jeremy Nevius is tied for 10th place and Campbell remains fifth on the team leader board after Monday's second round of the Rees Jones Invitational.
For the second-straight day, Nevius shot 1-over-par 73 on the par-72, 7380-yard Haig Point Golf Course and is 10 strokes behind individual leader Al Dickens of East Carolina (64-72—136). Only four players in the field enter Tuesday's final round in red numbers.
East Carolina (286-290—576) owns a 2-stroke leader over host Kennesaw State (285-293—578) heading into Tuesday's final round. Winthrop (295-291—586) is third, followed by Charleston Southern (293-296—589), Campbell (296-296—592) and Elon (299-302—601) in the 11-school tournament.
A red-shirt freshman from Metuchen, N.J., Nevius has made 25 pars, tied for third-best in the 63-golfer field. He made three birdies Monday and is one-over-par overall (tied for 7th) on the par-4 holes.
Junior Mikko Lehtovuori posted the team's low round of the day, an even-par 72. He made four birdies on a bogey-free back nine and is tied for 14th place at 3-over 147 (75-72). Sophomore Gaston Bertinotti (75-75) is tied for 24th place at 6-over 150, while Craig Hornberger (73-81—154) is tied for 38th. Freshman Carlos Leandro (79-76—155) is tied for 40th.
Campbell will start Tuesday's final round at 8:30 a.m. from the first tee, paired with Charleston Southern and Elon. Live scoring is available at Golfstat.com.
