DAFUSKIE ISLAND, S.C. – Mikko Lehtovuori tied for 14th place on the individual leader board and Campbell tied for fifth place in the team standings after Tuesday's final round of the Rees Jones Invitational.
On a day when only three players in the 63-golfer field broke par, Lehtovuori shot a 5-over-par 77 and finished the event at 8-over 224 (75-72-77) on the par-72, 7380-yard Haig Point Golf Course.
Host Kennesaw State (285-293-293—871) won team honors by three strokes over East Carolina (286-290-298—874). Winthrop (295-291-301—887) finished third, followed by Charleston Southern (293-296-308—897), Campbell (296-296-315—907) and UNC Wilmington (306-300-301—907) in the 11-school tournament.
Zach Seabolt of Winthrop (67-72-69—208) claimed medalist honors at 8-under-par, two strokes ahead of 36-hole leader Al Dickens of East Carolina (64-72-74—210).
Campbell freshman Jeremy Nevius tied for 26th (73-73-83—229), while sophomore Gaston Bertinotti (75-75-80—230) tied for 30th. Sophomore Craig Hornberger (73-81-78—232) finished 40th and freshman Carlos Leandro (79-76-80—235) tied for 44th.
As a team, Campbell topped the field in par-3 scoring (+12) led by Hornberger (even) and Bertinotti (plus-one). Lehtovuori played the par-5 holes at two-under, tied for sixth in the event.
The Camels return to action Oct. 6-7 in the Wolfpack Intercollegiate at Raleigh's Lonnie Poole Golf Course.
