Bertinotti makes cut at Latin America Amateur Championship

BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA -- Campbell University sophomore Gaston Bertinotti was one of 62 golfers to make the cut Friday after 36 holes of the inaugural Latin America Amateur Championship at Pilar Golf Course.

Bertinotti, who was tied for the lead at four-under-par 68 after Thursday's first round, shot a 6-over 78 on Friday and is tied for 25th place at 2-over-par.

Andre Tourinho of Brazil is the halfway point leader at 8-under (70-66), one stroke ahead of Joaquin Bondour of Argentina and Matias Dominguez of Chile.

Bertinotti recorded a 73.17 stroke average last fall as a sophomore at Campbell.  The 2014 Big South Conference Championship runner-up earned his first collegiate career victory Oct. 19-21 at the ODU/OBX Collegiate.

Play continues through the weekend on the par-72, 7233-yard Pilar Golf layout.
