Camels earn five total victories at UNCG Spartan Team Challenge

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Campbell picked up four individual victories and a win in the women's 4x400m relay on Sunday afternoon at the UNCG Spartan Team Challenge hosted at the JDL Fast Track.

Freshman Sabina Allen captured gold in the women's triple jump with a leap of 39-3.75 (11.98m), her second straight meet with an individual win after also claiming the long jump title at last week's UNC Open.

Also tallying first-place finishes for the Camels on Sunday were Lynette Akai (women's 200m, 25.96), Lilla Juhasz (women's 60m hurdles, 8.70) and Lennox Williams (men's 60m dash, 6.86).

The team of Akai, Racheal Brown, Asia Olds and Jocelyn Culbreath also won the women's 4x400m relay for Campbell, finishing with a time of 3:58.81.

Campbell will be back in action next Friday and Saturday for the Hilton Garden Invitational, again hosted by the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem.

Following is an event-by-event recap of Campbell's results from Sunday's UNCG Spartan Team Challenge.

Men's 60m Dash
Freshman Lennox Williams claimed the first victory of his collegiate career, earning gold with a time of 6.86, just four-tenths of a second shy of the school record. Tashinga Chitambira turned in a time of 6.95 to finish fourth overall, and Stanley Hicks rounded out the Camel trio in eighth place, crossing the line in 7.13.

Women's 60m Dash
Lilla Juhasz led the Campbell contingent, earning the bronze in 7.91. She was followed by Lynette Akai (fifth, 8.05) and Jocelyn Culbreath (eighth, 8.12).

Men's 60m Hurdles
Lorne Jenkins won his heat and finished seventh overall with a time of 8.78.

Women's 60m Hurdles
Lilla Juhasz earned her first win of the season and just missed overtaking her own school record with a time of 8.70. Andriel Strachan also competed for Campbell, taking fifth in 9.55. 

Men's 200m Dash
Tashinga Chitambira earned his second top-10 finish of the day with a time of 23.05 en route to a sixth-place finish. Taylor Swanson (14th, 25.35), Davian Rhodes (15th, 25.52) and Marcus Mize (16th, 26.13) finished back-to-back-to-back for the Camels.

Women's 200m Dash
Lynette Akai picked up her first victory of 2015, blazing across the line in 25.96 for the victory. Jocelyn Culbreath helped Campbell claim two of the top three spots, placing third in 26.11, while Asia Olds narrowly missed adding a top-10 finish, taking 11th in 27.46.

Men's 400m Dash
Nate Kennedy paced the Campbell trio in the event, bringing home seventh place with a time of 52.33. Jacob Carter (15th, 54.39) and DeAndre Douglas (16th, 55.07) also turned in solid finishes.

Women's 400m Dash
Racheal Brown (1:00.24) and Brianna Meyrick (1:03.92) competed for the Camels, bringing home third and ninth place, respectively.

Men's 800m Run
Campbell earned four of the top eight spots in the event, led by Morgan Timiney's second-place finish in 1:55.88. Tariq Fullerton (fourth) and Michael Bedell (fifth) trailed just behind, crossing the line in 1:57.64 and 1:58.24, respectively, while Braxton Cline claimed eighth place with a time of 2:01.45.

Women's 800m Run
Like the men, the women also fielded a large contingent of five athletes for the event. Kaelyn Yoder led the way, placing sixth overall with a time of 2:26.12. She was joined in the top 10 by Kelsey Rea, who took seventh in 2:28.05. Also competing for the Camels were Amina Alvarez Barkane (11th, 2:38.19), Alfreda Hagans (13th, 2:45.03) and Andriel Strachan (14th, 2:46.51).

Men's One Mile Run
Mason Holt and Anthony Hughes represented Campbell in the event and both placed in the top 10, with Holt taking fifth (4:29.70) and Hughes placing eighth (4:32.82).

Women's One Mile Run
Daisy Chepchirchir was the lone competitor for the Camels, claiming a third-place finish with a time of 5:51.74.

Men's 4x400m Relay
The team of Stanley Hicks, Oshane Burrell, Nate Kennedy and Lennox Williams took second overall in the relay with a time of 3:23.50. Campbell's "B" team of Michael Bedell, Tariq Fullerton, Lorne Jenkins and Morgan Timiney also performed well, finishing fifth in 3:28.26.

Women's 4x400m Relay
Lynette Akai, Racheal Brown, Asia Olds and Jocelyn Culbreath led the Camels' "A" team to victory, crossing the line in 3:58.81. The "B" team, made up of Kelsey Rea, Kaelyn Yoder, Brianna Meyrick and Amina Alvarez Barkane, placed fifth overall with a time of 4:23.51.

Men's Triple Jump
Taylor Swanson represented the Camels well, coming away with a sixth-place finish after a leap of 40-2.75 (12.26m).

Women's Triple Jump
Sabina Allen picked up a victory for the second straight weekend, jumping a distance of 39-3.75 (11.98m). Jaszlyn Jenkins placed third for the Camels after a jump of 37-2.25 (11.33m) and Shenelle McKay's mark of 36-11.5 (11.26m) was good for fifth place.

Men's Shot Put
Both Ethan Mitchell and Sharaj Prince turned in top-five finishes for Campbell, placing third (42-2.75/12.87m) and fifth (41-8/12.70m), respectively.

Women's Shot Put
The Camels' primary thrower, Erin Igwacho turned in a fourth-place finish after a heave of 31-10.25 (9.71m).

Men's Weight Throw
Ethan Mitchell and Sharaj Prince again paired to represent the Camels, with Mitchell taking fifth (38-6/11.75m) and Prince finishing sixth (31-3/9.53m).

Women's Weight Throw
A throw of 37-11 (11.57m) gave Erin Igwacho a second-place finish to wrap up the day's action.
