Raychel Diver joins women's soccer coaching staff

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Women's soccer head coach Stuart Horne has announced Raychel Diver will join the staff as an assistant coach for the upcoming season.

Diver graduated in 2014 from Elon where she played four years as a midfielder and forward for the Phoenix; she compiled 19 starts in 69 games played, tallied 11 points (4g, 3a) and was team captain for two seasons.

Horne was an associate head coach at Elon during Diver's first three years with the Phoenix, from 2011-2013.

"I'm excited to have Raychel on staff with us; when she was a player at Elon she always showed an interest and desire to coach and wanted to do so at the collegiate level," Horne said. "When this position opened up and Raychel expressed interest, I was more than excited to bring her on. Rachel has a great personality and her willingness to learn all the ins-and-outs of college coaching is going to make her a great addition to our program."

A native of Ronkonkoma, N.Y., Diver helped the Phoenix amass a 33-32-16 record in her four years, 28-20-16 from 2011-2013 with Horne as a member of the Elon coaching staff.

"I knew coach Horne as a coach and as a person while I was at Elon, and I knew what he could do," Diver said. "Learning from him was really what got me here. I was really excited to have the opportunity to learn from him because he was such a great coach for me. Career-wise I thought it was great to learn from someone I really enjoyed playing for.

"I'm a relationship oriented person and that environment really drew me to Campbell and what they stand for, in terms of creating a family for the team."
