KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – Nadine White matched her collegiate career low with a 5-under-par 67 to take the individual lead and Campbell sits atop the 20-school team leader board after Sunday's first round of the Palmetto Intercollegiate.
White made five birdies in her bogey-free round Sunday on the par-72, 5972-yard Turtle Point Golf Course to equal the 67 she produced earlier this year at the Golfweek Program Challenge. She birdied three of the first five holes, made nine-straight pars; then birdied the par-four 15th and 18th holes to close the day.
Malene Krolboll Hansen of Coastal Carolina is second at three-under 69, followed by an eight-player deadlock at two-under 70.
No.-48 Campbell carded a two-under 286 Sunday to take a one-stroke lead over Kennesaw State. No.-40 Furman is third (288) followed by Illinois (290), Xavier (290) and No.-23 Louisville (290) in a field that includes 14 schools ranked among the nation's top 100 by Golfstat.
Second-round play begins Monday with split starts from the first and 10th tees at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday's final round is set for an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. Live scoring is available at Golfstat.com.
Ranked No.-48 in the nation in the Golfstat Cup, White played the par-four holes at 3-under to tie for the lead in the 102-golfer field. She was one-under on the par-three and par-five layouts.
Ravnjak made three birdies on the day, playing the final six holes at two-under, and is tied for 11th place at one-under 71. She was one-under on Turtle Point's par-three and par-five holes.
Sjoholm made 15 pars on the day, including nine-straight to open the round, and shot 73 to tie for 23rd place. Louise Latorre had 13 pars in her three-over 75, while Ayelen Irizar matched her score with a round that included four birdies. Latorre and Irizar are tied for 47th after 18 holes.
