Ormsby earns Attacking Player of the Week honor

CHARLOTTE, N.C.Payton Ormsby has claimed the league's final Attacking Player of the Week honor for the 2015 season. Ormsby registered points on both of Campbell's game-winning goals in its the final two matches of the season, propelling the Campbell to the No. 3 seed in the final conference standings.

Last week at Longwood, Ormsby tallied the primary assist on the Kine Thorsvik's game-winning goal in the 63rd minute. She raced passed the Lancer defender and beat the oncoming goalkeeper to ball and slotted a pass to Thorsvik. The assist was her eighth on the season, ranking her second on the Camels and in the conference.

In the regular season finale, the Chesapeake, Va. native broke the five-plus match shutout streak of the High Point Panthers with her goal in the 30th minute. She received a long pass from Storey and was able to connect on a half volley over the goalkeeper's head from 12 yards away. It was her fifth goal of the season, tying her for second on the team with Shannon Wratchford.

Campbell opens Big South postseason action on Sunday, Nov. 1 at 3 p.m. against UNC Asheville at the Eakes Athletics Complex.
