Kipkoech earns at-large bid for 2015 NCAA D1 Cross Country Championship

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Following his performance at the 2015 NCAA Southeast Regional cross country meet, Campbell freshman runner Lawrence Kipkoech has been selected as an individual at-large runner for the 2015 NCAA Championship race.

Kipkoech finished 11th overall at the 10K race at Panorama Farms in Earlysville, Va. Friday afternoon. The Eldoret, Kenya native completed the race at 29:40.7, setting a new men's 10K school record, previously held by Chris Schulist (30:45.7) set in 2013.

His 11th place finished garnered him all-region honors as he finished within the top-25 of the overall group in Friday's race. Kipkoech is the first Campbell runner since Alicia Valtin competed at the 2006 NCAA Cross Country Championship and the first male runner from Campbell to qualify for the 10K National Championship.

The 2015 NCAA Cross Country Championship race will be held at Tom Sawyer Park in Louisville, Ky. Nov. 21 at 1 p.m. Kipkoech finished 18th at the D1 Pre-Nationals 8K event at Tom Sawyer Park on Oct. 17 of this season.
