2015-16 Schedule
BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell University track and field head coach Michael Kelly has announced the 2015-16 schedule for the indoor and outdoor track and field seasons.
The schedule consists of 11 indoor meets and 14 outdoor meets, including the Big South Conference championship meets and the Campbell Invitational held on April 18 at the Irwin Belk Track complex in Buies Creek.
Campbell will begin the indoor season in Bloomington, Ind. at the Hoosier Open, Dec. 12, at 5 p.m. The Orange and Black will begin the new calendar year in Chapel Hill, N.C. at the Gene Anderson Invitational (Jan. 9). The following weekend (Jan. 15-16), Campbell makes its way to Blacksburg, Va. for the Virginia Tech Invitational.
The Camels will participate in Winston Salem, N.C. four separate times throughout the schedule. They will partake in the UNCG Spartan Challenge on Jan. 24 beginning at 9 a.m. Five days later, the Orange and Black will compete in the Hilton Garden Invitational beginning at 9 a.m. on Jan. 29. Campbell will travel back to Winston Salem Feb. 11 at the HPU Team Challenge, followed by the UCS Invitational Feb. 20.
Campbell will be represented at two meets on Feb. 5-6 as student-athletes will participate in the Meyo Invitational in South Bend, Ind. and the Buccaneer Invitational in Johnson City, Tenn. One week later, the Camels trek to the Cascadia portion of the United States at the Husky Invitational in Seattle, Wash.
Indoor season will conclude Feb. 26-27 with the Big South Indoor Championships in Blacksburg, Va. followed by the NCAA Indoor Championships in Birmingham, Ala. two weeks later (March 11-12)
The same weekend of the NCAA Indoor Championships, Campbell begins its outdoor season in Wilmington, N.C. at the UNCW Seahawk Invite beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday morning (March 12). The following weekend March 18-19), the Fighting Camels head to Chapel Hill for the Carolina Relays.
Squads will split during the March 25-26 weekend, as Campbell will be in Raleigh, N.C. at the Raleigh Relays as well as in Jacksonville, Fla at the UNF Spring Break Invitational. They will split again the following weekend, as the Fighting Camels will participate in the Pepsi Florida Relays in Gainesville, Fla. and the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif.
The Aggie Invitational in Greensboro, N.C. is the next destination for Campbell track and field on Saturday, April 9. The next weekend (April 16-18) consists of a three-day meet at the Mt. Sac Relays in Los Angeles, Calif.
April 18th Campbell will host the 2016 Campbell Invitational at the Irwin Belk Track complex in Buies Creek.
April 22-23, Campbell makes its first of two consecutive trips to Virginia, as they participate in the UVA Challenge in Charlottesville, Va. April 27, the Camels head to Lynchburg, Va. for the Liberty Twilight Qualifier.
One more trip to California commences on May 1 as the Orange and Black will compete in the Payton Jordan Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif. May 10-11 the Big South Outdoor Championships will take place in Lynchburg, Va. as Campbell competes for the conference championship.
The NCAA Preliminary Round begins May 26 through May 28 in Jacksonville, Fla with the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship beginning June 8 in Eugene, Ore.
