BUIES CREEK, N.C. – After leading Campbell to a pair of wins, Chris Clemons has been named the Crons Brand Big South Conference men's basketball freshman of the week.  The native of Raleigh and 2015 Millbrook High School grad averaged 21 points and 4.5 rebounds while shooting 50 percent from 3-point range (8-16) and making all eight of his free throws.

Clemons scored a career-high 26 points in Campbell's 77-74 win last Tuesday at Ohio Valley member SIU-Edwardsville.  Clemons made 8-of-14 from the floor, 4-of-8 threes, and all six of his foul shots as Camels overcame an eight-point deficit in the second half.

In Saturday's 79-73 win over two-time defending champ Coastal Carolina, Clemons scored 16 points. His three in the midst of a 12-2 run gave Campbell (3-2, 1-0 Big South) the lead for good (67-64) with 4:23 to play. Clemons knocked down 4-of-8 triples, including 3-of-4 in the second half.

On the year, the freshman has scored in double figures in each of Campbell's five games.  He was also named the league's top freshman performer on Nov. 16.

A 5-foot-9 guard, Clemons ranks 4th among Big South scoring leaders (17.6) and tops all league freshmen in the category.  He leads the league in 3-point accuracy (.548), is tied for the Big South lead in steals (2.0), is 2nd in 3-pointers made (3.4) and free throw percentage (.867) and tied for 9th in field goal percentage (.500).

Clemons and the Camels host VMI Monday at 7 p.m. before taking an eight-day break from competition for final exams.
