Box Score

GREENSBORO, N.C.Ashley Clark buried a pair of goals to lead the Campbell Camels to a 2-0 victory against Coastal Carolina Friday evening in the Big South semifinal at Bryan Park.

With the win, Campbell advances to the Big South Championship match Sunday afternoon for the first time since 2011.

Campbell's defense was tested in the first 16 minutes of play as Coastal Carolina gained four corner kicks during that span.

Shannon Wratchford registered the first shot on goal for either side in the 23rd minute from 20 yards away. One minute later the Camels earned their first corner kick of the night as Anna Brantley's cross was deflected away by the Chanticleer defense.

Neither team was able to gain full control in the opening stanza as possession changed hands due to strong defensive efforts from each side.

With 10 seconds remaining in the first half, Clark connected on a side volley from six yards away, giving Campbell the 1-0 lead going into halftime. Wratchford dribbled into space down the right side and played a cross to Clark, whose shot dipped over the CCU goalkeeper and into the right corner of the goal.

At the end of the first half, Coastal Carolina held the 5-4 edge in shots, but Campbell placed three shots of those shots on frame and held the opposition to zero on frame.

The Fighting Camels defense was called into action in the opening minutes of the second half as the Chants registered three shots towards goal, all stopped by Samantha Lawson.

In the 62nd minute, Clark found the back of the net again, this time courtesy of Payton Ormsby. Clark received Ormsby's pass, advanced forward and her left-footed shot found the far post from 20 yards away, as she scored her second goal of the night.

The attack continued for the Camels after building their 2-0 advantage as they registered three more shots towards goal following Clark's second tally. In the 63rd minute, Wratchford connected on a shot that hit the underside of the crossbar and bounced back into play towards Cydney Smith, but the Chanticleer goalkeeper dove on the ball, stopping the opportunity.

In the final 20 minutes of play, Lawson made five saves for the Camels, preserving her third shutout of the season. The Richboro, Pa earned her fourth shutout of the season for the Orange and Black.

With the victory, Campbell plays No.1-seeded Liberty Sunday at 2 p.m. from Bryan Park in Greensboro, N.C.
