JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --- Amanda Coffer tallied her fourth double-double of the season and Summer Price scored a team-high 22 points to lead Campbell to a 66-55 victory over North Florida in the final game of the Hampton Inn Oceanfront Holiday Classic on Sunday afternoon.
Coffer tallied 16 points and pulled down a career-high 13 rebounds. RaeChaun Edwards added 11 points as the Lady Camels' (5-4) leading scorer registered her highest output in three games. Price hit a season-high four three pointers and shot 9-of-18 from the field. Jessica Pone added six points and dished out a pair of assists.
Price and Coffer scored five early points each as UNF (4-9) held a narrow 13-10 lead with 4:27 to play in the first period. After Price nailed her second-straight three to tie the game, CU took its first lead of the contest at 15-13 on an Edwards' jumper with 2:27 on the clock.
Claire Ioannidis answered for UNF with a three at 2:00 on the clock, however that would be the final points of the opening stanza for the Ospreys. CU scored the final eight points of the period to take a 23-16 lead after one.
The UNF scoring woes continued into the second as the Lady Camels scored the first seven points of the period to take a 30-16 lead with 4:20 to play until halftime. The Ospreys finally broke a nearly 10 minute scoring drought on a jumper by Sierra Shepherd with 2:41 remaining in the second.
Three-straight free throws for UNF capped a 5-0 run and cut the deficit back to single digits at 30-21 with 1:40 to play in the opening half. The Lady Camel lead was still nine until Price hit a running jumper at the buzzer to send CU to the halftime locker room with a 34-23 advantage. Campbell held UNF to just 14.3 percent shooting in the second period.
UNF opened the third period on a 10-4 run to close within five of the lead at 38-33 and force a CU timeout with 7:01 on the clock. Coffer answered with five-straight points after the break to increase the Campbell lead back to double-digits at 43-33 with 5:24 to play in the third.
The lead remained 10 before a 7-0 spurt pushed the advantage to 55-38 with 1:13 to play before the fourth. The Ospreys hit three free throws in the final minute of the third as CU headed to the final stanza with a 55-41 advantage.
After a long scoring drought by both sides to open the fourth period, Edwards nailed back-to-back three pointers to give CU its largest lead of the game at 61-41 with 6:18 to play. The Ospreys hit their first shot of the period four minutes in and trailed 63-47 with 2:56 on the clock.
UNF used an 8-1 scoring run to cut the deficit to single digits at 64-55 with just over a minute to play. However, Alyshia Allison nailed a couple of late free throws to make the final tally 66-55.
Ioannidis scored a game-high 24 points for UNF while Shepherd added 17 with five assists. Maiya Rumph and Taru Madekivi each pulled down a team-high six rebounds.
Following a break for the Christmas holiday, Campbell will be back in action, and return to Big South Conference play, on Dec. 29th against Liberty at Gore Arena. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
