Patterson named College Sports Madness Big South Player of the Week

Buies Creek, N.C.- Freshman first baseman Chandler Patterson has been named the College Sports Madness Big South Player of the Week, as announced by the website on Tuesday.

From Sanford, N.C., Patterson helped to lead Campbell to a 2-1 record over the weekend in the Hampton Inn Invitational. Despite a 10-9 loss to Towson on Friday, Patterson recorded her first career homerun and also had two RBI's in the contest.

On Sunday, the game was shortened to just five innings due to the run rule, but the first baseman had another home run, tacking on three more RBI's in a 10-0 win against East Tennessee State.

In game two of the double header against East Tennessee State, Patterson continued her hitting streak with a double to left field in the bottom of the fifth inning, earning her yet another RBI. On defense, Patterson recorded 16 put outs throughout the weekend.

She finished the tournament with three hits, one double, and two home runs. Head coach Todd Bradley said, "Chandler has been working extremely hard on her discipline and pitch selection at the plate. She has a good weekend and I'm excited to see what's ahead moving forward."

Campbell will return to action on Friday, February 13 as a part of the Georgia Southern Invitational in Statesboro, Ga.
