The Bulldogs refused to go away, however, and closed out the first half on a 13-5 run to close Campbell's lead to just six points. An 11-2 run by the Lady Camels, culminating in a layup by Gaines with 5:16 remaining, rebuilt a double-digit lead at 47-37. UNC Asheville answered with a 9-2 burst of its own to cut the lead back to three with 3:08 left to set up a tight contest down the stretch.
Jones' shot from beyond the arc cut Campbell's lead to 53-51 with 38 seconds to play, setting up Price's three-pointer to ice the game.
