Alan Quinn hired as assistant track and field coach

BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Alan Quinn has been hired as Campbell's assistant track and field coach as announced by Head Coach Michael Kelly.

"I couldn't be more satisfied with the caliber of coach that is joining our track and field program," Kelly said of Quinn. "Alan comes from a winning tradition at all of his previous stops, and once you meet him it is easy to see why success seems to follow wherever he is coaching."

Quinn joins the Camels from Texas Tech University where he served as a volunteer assistant coach assisting Associate Head Coach Dion Miller in the development of sprinters, hurdlers and the relay teams. While with the Red Raiders, athletes that Quinn assisted brought home eight All-American honors between the indoor and outdoor seasons in 2014.

Prior to his time at Texas Tech, Quinn also had stints at Shorter University and Langston University. At Shorter, Quinn coached 14 All-Americans, four Peach Belt Conference champions and his athletes set four Peach Belt Conference records. The program captured the NCCAA Women's Indoor Track and Field National Championship and was the runner-up in the Outdoor Track and Field National Championship during his tenure.

While with Langston, Quinn tutored five individual national champions, a national championship relay team, 33 All-Americans, 55 conference champions and eight Red River Conference Championship meet records. In addition, Quinn's athletes set 24 school records for the program.

"I want to thank Coach Kelly and the administration for giving me the opportunity to join the CU family," Quinn said of the opportunity. "I am looking forward to building on the success that Coach Kelly and our CU athletes have had in recent years."
