BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Old Dominion scored six unanswered goals midway through the second half and went on to defeat Campbell 18-12 Friday at Barker-Lane Stadium.
Mary Margaret McCaleb tallied two of her three scores on the day during the rally as the Monarchs (2-0) turned a 9-8 deficit into a 14-9 edge.
Erica Hitch led Campbell (0-1) with four goals. Rebecca Sheinfeld, Carter Koontz and Kayla Reilly added two each, while Kaki Armiger and Loren Day also scored for the Camels. Day finished with four draw controls, and Erin O'Hara had four ground balls.
Jessica Liberty, Connor Carson and Christina Rea also scored three goals for ODU, which finished with an 18-12 edge in shots. Ashmore Standing added two goals, five ground balls and five caused turnovers.
Megan Topper, Morgan Marrale, Megan Cameron and Natalie Ledwitz also scored and Rea had five draw controls to lead the visitors.
Old Dominion keeper Karen Hayde finished with six saves, while Merredith Bechler made 14 stops for the Camels.
Campbell returns to action on Sunday in a 2:00 p.m. start at home against George Mason.
