Orlando, Fla.- Campbell dropped two games during the Citrus Classic in Orlando, Fla., first losing 2-1 against the Marist Red Foxes, and then falling 6-2 in its Saturday afternoon game against the Jacksonville State Gamecocks.
Against Marist, Senior Julia Callicutt limited the Red Foxes to only three hits. After the second inning, no ball left the infield due to the Camels defensive performance.
Freshman Chandler Patterson continued her hitting streak, and had a RBI and two walks. Other Camels who had hits were Stephanie Jones, Ericka Nesbitt, Camise Patterson, and Maggie Chirstopher.
In the second game on Saturday, Nesbitt would be the one to bring in the two runs scored by the Camels, as the senior shortstop had one hit against the Gamecocks.
Brittany Bruce had two hits at the plate, with one of those being a double, while Christopher contributed the fourth hit of the day.
Regardless, the Camels weren't able to stop the Gamecocks bats, losing 6-2. The Camels open up play on Sunday morning at 10 a.m. to take on the Virginia Cavaliers. They will conclude their time at the Citrus Classic by taking on the Gamecocks for the second time at 12:15 p.m.
