CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Lorne Jenkins and Sabina Allen swept the men's and women's triple jump titles at the Kent Taylor Invitational hosted by the University of North Carolina on Saturday afternoon to lead the Campbell contingent at the meet.
Jenkins, the reigning Big South Male Field Athlete of the Week, picked up his second victory in as many weeks and first in the triple jump this season. Allen's win was the fourth of her young career and second in the triple jump in 2015.
In total, Campbell finished with 14 individual top-five finishes on the day and a runner-up finish in the women's 4x400m relay in its final tuneup ahead of the 2015 Big South Indoor Track and Field Championships next Thursday and Friday in Winston-Salem, N.C.
Following is an event-by-event summary of Campbell's action from Saturday's Kent Taylor Invitational.
Men's 60m Dash (Prelims)
Tashinga Chitambira advanced to the finals after a fifth-place finish and a time of 7.01 in the preliminary heats.
Men's 60m Dash (Finals)
Chitambira went even lower in the finals, earning the same fifth-place finish but slightly faster, crossing the line in 6.97.
Women's 60m Dash (Prelims)
Lilla Juhasz matched her own fastest time of the season in the event for the Camels, advancing to the finals after finishing fourth in 7.91.
Women's 60m Dash (Finals)
Juhasz improved upon her preliminary heat time by nearly two tenths of a second, earning the bronze medal after crossing the line in 7.75.
Women's 60m Hurdles (Prelims)
Juhasz again was the top representative for Campbell, advancing to the finals after a fifth-place finish in 8.75. Andriel Strachan also competed, placing 13th overall with a time of 9.84.
Women's 60m Hurdles (Finals)
Narrowly missing the chance to top her own school record, Juhasz claimed her second bronze of the day with a strong finish of 8.56.
Men's 200m Dash
Lorne Jenkins turned in a strong finish on the track in the 200m dash, finishing sixth overall with a time of 23.14. Jacob Carter also turned in a personal-best time of 23.91 to finish 13th.
Women's 200m Dash
Asia Olds earned a silver medal for the Camels in the sprint event with a final time of 26.02 as Campbell's lone representative.
Men's 400m Dash
Nate Kennedy led the way for Campbell with a third-place finish in 51.52, and Jacob Carter posted his second personal-best time of the day en route to a 10th-place finish in 53.64.
Women's 400m Dash
Lynette Akai turned in her second-best time of the season in the 400m dash, placing second overall after crossing the line in 57.53. Asia Olds (sixth, 1:00.05) and Racheal Brown (eighth, 1:01.70) also earned top-10 finishes for Campbell.
Men's 800m Run
Braxton Cline was the lone representative for the Camels, taking sixth place after crossing the line in 2:02.84.
Women's 800m Run
Kelsey Rea picked up her first medal finish of the season, placing third overall with a time of 2:24.89. Also finishing in the top 10 for the Camels were Brianna Meyrick (sixth, 2:36.13) and Alfreda Hagans (eighth, 2:39.36).
Women's 4x400m Relay
Campbell's squad of Asia Olds, Lynette Akai, Jocelyn Culbreath and Racheal Brown posted the Camels' top time of the season in the relay event, finishing second overall with a time of 3:54.06.
Men's High Jump
Davian Rhodes earned his third top-five finish in his signature event this season, finishing fourth overall after reaching a height of 6-2.25 (1.89m).
Women's High Jump
Jocelyn Culbreath came within two hundredths of a meter of tying the school record in the event, turning in a mark of 5-6 (1.68m) to finish third overall. Shenelle McKay was up next, taking fourth after a leap of 5-4.25 (1.63m), and Andriel Strachan tied for fifth in the event with a jump of 5-2.25 (1.58m).
Men's Long Jump
Taylor Swanson posted a new personal-best leap of 20-3.5 (6.18m) to finish sixth overall.
Men's Triple Jump
Lorne Jenkins posted his first triple jump victory and second individual win of the season after a mark of 45-4.5 (13.83m) on Saturday afternoon.
Women's Triple Jump
Sabina Allen picked up Campbell's top finish of the day on the women's side, earning her fourth individual victory of 2015 with a mark of 38-8.25 (11.79m). Jaszlyn Jenkins also earned the silver medal with a jump of 37-0.5 (11.29m).
Men's Shot Put
Sharaj Prince was the lone competitor for the Camels, posting a heave of 43-7.75 (13.30m) to finish sixth in the event.
