CONWAY, S.C. – Campbell women's tennis dropped its first Big South Conference match of the season, falling to Coastal Carolina 4-3 Friday afternoon at the Coastal Carolina Tennis Complex.
The Camels (3-4, 0-1 BSC) clinched the doubles point from the Chanticleers (2-4, 1-0 BSC) as the duos of freshman
Georgina Segarra and junior
Ana Maria Ortiz, and freshman
Irina Karangozishvili and sophomore
Maud Mrad, earned victory for Campbell.
Segarra and Ortiz have combined for an undefeated 5-0 record this season, while Karangozishvili and Mrad also remain unbeaten in doubles play with a 2-0 season record.
Coastal Carolina would go on to win four-of-six singles matches; Karangozishvili and Ortiz were the only Camels to earn singles match points for the team.
Karangozishvili's singles win snaps a two-match losing streak and moves the freshman to a 5-3 singles competition record; Ortiz moves to 3-1 this season.
The Camels will be back in action Tuesday as they travel to Charleston, S.C. to take on the Charleston Southern Buccaneers at 2 p.m.
