Box Score BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Kayla Reilly fired a goal with 14 seconds remaining in overtime that would have extended the contest for Campbell, but Furman's Devon Horine netted the game-winner with just five seconds remaining as the Camels fell 11-10 on Friday afternoon at Barker-Lane Stadium.
The Camels (0-3) had previously tied the contest at 9-9 off another Reilly goal with 27 seconds remaining in regulation. Neither side ever trailed by more than two goals throughout the game, and the matchup was the first home lacrosse game to go into overtime in program history.
Campbell outshot the Paladins (3-0) 23-21 and placed 17 of those attempts on target. Merredith Bechler tallied five saves for the Camels, while her counterpart Maggie Friel stopped seven shots between the pipes for Furman.
Loren Day led the Camels with four goals on the afternoon and added two more assists. Reilly and Hayley Carroll also notched a pair of goals each, while Annie Cook and Erica Hitch added the final tallies.
Defensively, Day and Megan Reilly each forced two turnovers, and Megan Reilly, Cook and April Reinhart picked up three ground balls apiece.
For Furman, Horine led all players with five goals and six ground balls.

Campbell rallied from the deficit over the final six and a half minutes of the first half, however, with two goals from Day and another from Carroll. The Camels carried a slim 5-4 advantage into the locker room after the three unanswered scores.
Aside from back-to-back goals from Furman to take a 7-6 lead with 14:39 to play, the two sides went back-and-forth with goals in the second half. The Paladins grabbed a 9-8 lead on Horine's score with 3:12 on the clock, but Kayla Reilly's tally with just 27 ticks on the clock tied the score at 9-9 and forced overtime.
Britt Douglass put the Paladins ahead with an early score in the extra frame, but Reilly again came through for Campbell, tying the game at 10-10 with 14 seconds left. Off the final draw control, however, Horine gained control for Furman and slotted the game-winner past Bechler.
Campbell will close out its four-game homestand to open the season with a matchup against Kennesaw State on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. The Camels have defeated the Owls in each of the last two seasons, including the program's inaugural victory during the 2013 campaign.
