WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Campbell picked up five top-10 finishes on the opening day of the Wake Forest Open on Friday in the opener for its 2015 outdoor campaign.
Both Sabina Allen and Lorne Jenkins earned fifth-place finishes in the triple jump, Lilla Juhasz earned the top finish of the day with a runner-up spot in the 100m hurdles, Eric Baldwin took eighth in the 1,500m run and Lynette Akai turned in a seventh-place finish in the 400m dash.
Saturday's action at the Wake Forest Open will get underway with the women's javelin throw at 9:00 a.m. and is scheduled to conclude with the men's and women's 4x400m relays at approximately 3:20 p.m.
Following is an event-by-event summary of Campbell's action from Day 1 of the Wake Forest Open.
Men's 100m Dash (Prelims)
Fabian Jarrett won his heat and finished 17th overall with a time of 11.13 in the sprint event to lead Campbell. DeAndre Douglas was up next, finishing 38th in 11.44, and Jacob Carter rounded out the trio with a time of 11.89 to finish 75th overall.
Women's 100m Dash (Prelims)
Lilla Juhasz led the way for the Campbell duo in the event, narrowly missing advancing to the finals after a 10th-place finish in 12.48. Asia Olds also competed for the Camels, crossing the line in 12.90 to finish 28th overall.
Women's 100m Hurdles (Prelims)
Competing in one of her signature events, Lilla Juhasz claimed the final spot in the finals with an eighth-place finish in 14.70.
Women's 100m Hurdles (Finals)
Juhasz improved upon her preliminary heats time by nearly eight tenths of a second, earning a runner-up finish with a time of 13.96 in the finals.
Men's 400m Dash
Nate Kennedy crossed the line first for Campbell, placing 44th with a time of 50.86. Fabian Jarrett also ran for the Camels, finishing in 52.77 to take 74th in the event.
Women's 400m Dash
Lynette Akai spearheaded the Camel contingent with a top-10 finish, placing seventh overall with a time of 56.60 to open her season. Jocelyn Culbreath also finished inside the top 20 for Campbell, taking 17th in 58.36. Asia Olds wrapped up the trio, crossing the line in 59.08 to finish 29th overall.
Men's 1,500m Run
Eric Baldwin, Campbell's lone representative in the event, finished eighth overall with a time of 3:56.27.
Women's High Jump
Shenelle McKay was the lone competitor for the Camels in the event, tying for 13th overall after reaching a height of 5-1 (1.55m).
Men's Triple Jump
Lorne Jenkins posted a mark of 46-7.25 (14.20m) to finish fifth overall in the event.
Women's Triple Jump
Sabina Allen opened her outdoor campaign with a fifth-place finish, leaping a distance of 38-0 (11.58m).
Men's Javelin Throw
The sole competitor for Campbell, Ethan Mitchell brought home an 11th-place finish after a throw of 173-11 (53.03m).
