In celebration of the 20th anniversary of Campbell's first NCAA softball regional appearance in 1995, the University is proud to welcome back to Buies Creek on Saturday former head coach Julie Brzezinski and a number of student-athletes who played under her guidance on the Camel teams from 1990 through 1997.
Now head coach at Fairfield University, Julie Brzezinski guided the Camels to school-record victory totals in each of her first six seasons at the helm of the program. Her 1993 team captured the Big South Conference tournament title and the 1994 squad won the Big South regular season championship. In eight seasons, Campbell posted a 245-195-1 (.556) record under Brzezinski's guidance.
The 1995 squad won the Atlantic Sun Conference tournament championship, then defeated Big South champ UNC Greensboro in an NCAA play-in series to earn the program's first-ever NCAA Regional berth. At Columbia, S.C., the Camels faced UCLA and South Carolina.
The 1996 team reached the Atlantic Sun championship game for the second-straight year before falling to Jacksonville State in extra innings.
