AMHERST, VA. – Mikko Lehtovuori finished one stroke off the individual lead and Campbell moved up to fifth place on the team leader board after Saturday's final round of the Liberty Spring Invitational men's golf tournament at Poplar Grove.
A junior from Lahti, Finland, Lehtovuori shot 71-69-74—214 to finish at two-under-par, one shot behind a six-way tie for first.
Liberty's Mathieu Fenasse birdied the second playoff hole to claim medalist honors.
With three golfers among the top six individuals, No.-10 Oklahoma (283-279-285—847) won the 18-team event by 15 strokes over 19th-ranked North Carolina (282-285-295—862). Host Liberty was third (876) followed by Lipscomb (878), Campbell (291-294-299—884) and Radford (291-291-302—884).
Lehtovuori made 14 birdies over the 54-hole tournament to finish in a tie for fifth in the field. He played the par-five hotels at five-under (T3rd) and was one-over on the par-threes (T5th). The seventh-place tie marked Lehtovuori's best finish of the season and the first time he finished a 54-hole event in red numbers since the Golfweek Program Challenge last September.
Campbell freshman Thomas La Morte tied for 24th place (74-76-71—221) after shooting the team's low round of the day. He made 37 pars (T6th) and played the par-four holes at one-under (T8th). Sophomore Gaston Bertinotti tied for 27th (72-74-77—223).
Sophomore Craig Hornberger finished in a tie for 42nd (75-75-77—227), while red-shirt freshman Jeremy Nevius tied for 62nd (74-80-78—232).
