Camels earn six victories in Campbell Invitational

BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Campbell posted six victories on Saturday as the Camels hosted the Campbell Invitational at the Irwin Belk Track, just the second meet that the Camels have hosted since the 1987 season.

In the overall team competition, both the men (89 points) and the women (78 points) earned fourth-place finishes. Coastal Carolina captured both the men's and women's titles with 176 points and 218 points, respectively.

Campbell also sent a contingent to compete in the Virginia Challenge in Charlottesville, Va., where Lawrence Kipkoech broke a 27-year old school record in the 5,000m run with a time of 13:53.97 to finish second overall. Amon Terer also competed in the event, placing fifth in 14:02.09.

Evan Darm also competed for Campbell in the 10,000m run at the Virginia Challenge, finishing 12th in 30:15.02.

The Camels will have just over a week off before returning to action at the Liberty Invite on Wednesday, April 29, in Lynchburg, Va.

Following is an event-by-event recap of Campbell's action at the Campbell Invitational on Saturday.

Men's 100m Dash
Fabian Jarrett (10.99) and DeAndre Douglas (11.17) earned top-five finishes, placing third and fifth, respectively. 

Women's 100m Dash
Lilla Juhasz earned the win for Campbell in the short sprint, posting a time of 11.81 to win the gold medal. 

Men's 110m Hurdles
The lone competitor for Campbell, Marcus Mize placed sixth overall after a run of 18.65.

Men's 200m Dash
Fabian Jarrett cruised to victory in the sprint with a time of 21.83. 

Women's 200m Dash
Jocelyn Culbreath posted a top-five finish, taking fourth overall in 25.43. Asia Olds captured sixth place after a run of 25.48. 

Men's 400m Dash
Nate Kennedy led the Campbell duo in the event, placing third overall after crossing the line in 50.15. Jacob Carter took eighth place after a run of 54.81.

Men's 800m Run
Michael Bedell turned in a run of 2:00.25 to earn an 11th-place finish. 

Women's 800m Run
Kelsey Rea turned in a career-best time of 2:17.77 to win the bronze medal, while the trio of Kaelyn Yoder (10th, 2:28.80), Brianna Meyrick (11th, 2:29.12) and Alfreda Hagans (12th, 2:32.79) also competed for Campbell. 

Men's 1,500m Run
Morgan Timiney gave Campbell the victory in the mid-distance run, finishing in 3:47.07 for the gold medal performance. Eric Baldwin picked up the bronze medal with a run of 3:52.56, while Mason Holt placed seventh overall after a performance of 4:13.84. 

Women's 1,500m Run
Kaelyn Yoder crossed the line in 5:19.73 to finish ninth overall.

Men's 3,000m Run
Anthony Hughes picked up a fifth-place finish after crossing the line in 9:02.57, while Mason Holt finished eighth overall with a run of 9:42.35. 

Men's 3,000m Steeplechase
Jacob Kipserem was the lone competitor for Campbell, placing second overall with a time of 9:15.37.

Women's 4x100m Relay
The Campbell quartet of Sabina Allen, Lilla Juhasz, Asia Olds and Jocelyn Culbreath picked up the gold medal after crossing the line in 46.91.

Men's 4x400m Relay
The team of Fabian Jarrett, Nate Kennedy, Michael Bedell and Morgan Timiney finished second overall in 3:22.10. 

Women's 4x400m Relay
Asia Olds, Jocelyn Culbreath, Lynette Akai and Racheal Brown posted a third-place finish with a time of 4:00.99. 

Women's High Jump
Shenelle McKay grabbed the gold medal in the high jump, reaching a height of 5-7 (1.70m), while Andriel Strachan's leap of 5-1 (1.55m) gave her a fifth-place finish. 

Men's Long Jump
Lorne Jenkins picked up a runner-up finish in the jumps competition, covering a distance of 23-9 (7.24m), a new personal-best. Taylor Swanson also finished seventh overall with a mark of 20-0.25 (6.10m). 

Women's Long Jump
Sabina Allen earned the silver medal for Campbell with an outdoor personal-best leap of 17-11 (5.46m). Lilla Juhasz also competed, turning in an eighth-place finish after a jump of 17-6 (5.33m).

Men's Triple Jump
A performance of 45-9.75 (13.96m) gave Lorne Jenkins a bronze medal in the triple jump, and Taylor Swanson finished seventh overall with a jump of 39-8.75 (12.11m). 

Women's Triple Jump
Sabina Allen picked up the gold medal in the triple jump, breaking the 40-foot mark for the first time in her collegiate career with a leap of 40-0.75 (12.21m). Shenelle McKay also medaled, bringing home the bronze after a performance of 38-3.5 (11.67m). 

Men's Javelin Throw
Ethan Mitchell earned a bronze-medal finish for the Camels, throwing a distance of 159-2 (48.51m) in one of his signature events.

Men's Shot Put
Ethan Mitchell (44-2.75/13.48m) and Sharaj Prince (41-9.25/12.73m) posted back-to-back finishes in the throws event, taking fifth and sixth, respectively.

Men's Discus Throw
Sharaj Prince took sixth in the event with a heave of 124-3 (37.87m).
