NINETY SIX, S.C. – Gaston Bertinotti is four strokes off the individual lead and Campbell sits in sixth place after two rounds of the Big South Conference men's golf championship at The Patriot Golf Club.
A sophomore from Cordoba, Argentina, Bertinotti is tied for 11th place at two-under-par 142 (69-73) on the par-72, 7120-yard Patriot layout. Blake Carter of Longwood is the individual leader at six-under-par 138 (68-70), one stroke in front of a five-way tie for second place.
Coastal Carolina (281-285—565) is on top of the team leader board at 11-under. Liberty (286-283—569) trails by four strokes, while Gardner-Webb is third (283-289—572). Winthrop is fourth (287-286—573), followed by Charleston Southern (286-289—575) and Campbell (286-290—576) in the 10-school field.
Bertinotti made six birdies in his opening round and has nine through 36 holes, tied for fifth in the field. Freshman Thomas La Morte is tied for 13th place on the individual results list at one-under 143 (71-72) after playing the par-three holes at 3-under (4th in the field) and making 25 pars (tied for 5th).
Sophomore Craig Hornberger is tied for 22nd (71-75—146) after playing the par three layouts at 1-under (tied for third). Junior Mikko Lehtovuori (76-72—148) and red-shirt freshman Jeremy Nevius (75-73—148) are tied for 29th.
Campbell will be paired with Winthrop and Charleston Southern and start from the first tee at 8:30 a.m. for Tuesday's final round. Live scoring is available on-line at Golfstat.com.
