BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Alyshia Allison has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Campbell women's basketball program for the 2015-16 season as announced by Head Coach Wanda Watkins.
Allison, a 5'6" point guard who attended James H. Blake High School in Silver Spring, Md., averaged 10.8 points and 6.2 assists per game as a senior and 5.3 steals per game for her career. During her varsity career, her teams posted a combined record of 57-21, including a 23-3 mark as a sophomore in 2012-13.
"Alyshia is an energetic point guard who has good court awareness and understands the role of making others around her better. She is a natural leader who loves the game," Watkins said of the signee. "She has the ability to score as well through penetration and on the perimeter. Her passing skills are an asset to her as a playmaker."
In her sophomore season, Allison competed in the Department of Defense Education Activity Far East Tournament, capturing the title with her team. Allison was named the Far East Player of the Year and spots on the DoDEA Pacific All-Tournament Team while also earning Most Versatile Player honors as a sophomore. Allison also earned First Team All-Conference, All-Area and All-Region nods as a sophomore and was named the Defensive Player of the Year.
During her junior season, Allison was named Most Valuable Player and also earned All-Tournament honors for the second straight year. The point guard also claimed First Team All-Conference, All-Area and All-Region honors for the second consecutive season.
Despite missing the end of her senior season due to injury, Allison was selected for three All-Star games, including the MCPS Senior All-Star Game, the Maryland Regional All-Star Game and the CKA Annual All-Star Game.
Academically, Allison has earned high honors in each of her four years and was named a Maryland Mind in Motion Scholar-Athlete as a senior.
"Alyshia will be a wonderful fit at our institution, both academically and athletically, and we look forward to she and her family joining our Campbell University family," Watkins said.
Allison is the daughter of Kenneth and Althea Allison and has two sisters, Asia (22) and Kenya (15). Allison is also related to former NFL player London Fletcher and former NBA athlete Shawn Kemp. She intends to pursue a major in sports and fitness management or business management and has plans to attend law school following her undergraduate career.
