BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Campbell and Longwood split a Friday evening doubleheader at Amanda Littlejohn Stadium, with the Camels dropping the first contest 7-3 before a Brittany Bruce walkoff homer gave Campbell a 2-1 victory in the nightcap.

The Camels (20-19, 3-10) surrendered just seven hits across the two contests, and Julia Callicutt earned her ninth win of the season with a three-hit, eight-strikeout performance in the second game of the day. The senior also pitched 1.2 hitless innings in the first game with one strikeout.

In Game 1, Campbell jumped out to an early 3-0 lead with a trio of runs in the opening inning, spurred by a two-RBI single from Bruce. The Lancers (16-19, 10-4) responded with a two-run homer off Justina Augstine's bat in the top of the third and grabbed the lead on a Chelsea Sciacca grand slam in the fifth.

Callicutt was able to hold the Lancers off the board after entering in relief in the sixth inning, but the Lancers held on for the 7-3 win in the opening contest.

Katie Baker (10-11) took the loss for the Camels, fanning six batters while giving up four hits and seven earned runs. Elizabeth McCarthy (12-8) earned the win for Longwood, scattering eight hits and striking out nine batters while allowing three earned runs.

Campbell again threatened early in Game 2, getting runners on second and third in the bottom of the first before a pair of groundouts ended the threat.

The two sides traded home runs midway through the contest to break the draw, as Longwood's Megan Baltzell hit one over the wall in right in the top of the fourth before Camise Patterson went long to center in the bottom of the fifth to pull the Camels even.

Still tied entering the bottom of the seventh, Bruce fired a shot to right field on the first pitch of the inning to give Campbell the walkoff victory. The senior finished 2-of-3 with an RBI in the second game of the day.

Callicutt (9-6) earned the complete game win for the Camels, while McCarthy (12-9) returned to the mound to take the loss for Longwood. McCarthy struck out six and scattered five hits with a pair of earned runs.

Campbell and Longwood will close out their three-game series tomorrow afternoon at Amanda Littlejohn Stadium, with the first pitch currently set to be thrown at Noon.
