HIGH POINT, N.C. - Campbell opened the 2015 High Point VertKlasse Meeting with four individual top-five finishes on Friday afternoon, headlined by Morgan Timiney's runner-up finish in the men's 1,500m run.
In addition to Timiney's performance, Jacob Kipserem, Sabina Allen and Ethan Mitchell also posted top-five finishes on the afternoon. Taylor Swanson nearly grabbed another finish in the category for the Camels by tying for sixth in the high jump.
Saturday's action at the VertKlasse Meeting will kick off at 9:30 a.m. with the men's 800m run and will conclude at approximately 5:35 p.m. with the women's 4x400m relay.
Following is an event-by-event recap of Campbell's action from the opening day of the VertKlasse Meeting.
Men's 1,500m Run
Morgan Timiney and Eric Baldwin starred in the mid-distance run, with Timiney earning a silver medal after a performance of 3:54.27, just two-tenths of a second behind High Point's Ryan Udvadia. Baldwin grabbed a 17th-place finish in 3:58.21.
Women's 1,500m Run
Kelsey Rea was the lone competitor for Campbell, placing 26th overall with a time of 4:59.25 in the mid-distance event.
Men's 3,000m Steeplechase
Jacob Kipserem earned a top-five individual finish, placing fifth with a time of 9:25.61.
Men's 5,000m Run
Anthony Hughes set a new personal-best mark in the event, crossing the line in 15:09.86 to take seventh overall. Mason Holt also competed for Campbell, placing 24th in 15:47.21.
Women's 5,000m Run
Daisy Chepchirchir represented Campbell in the long-distance run, crossing the line ine 19:37.62 to take 25th overall.
Men's High Jump
Taylor Swanson tied for sixth overall in the event, leaping to a height of 5-8.5 (1.74m) to earn the result.
Women's High Jump
Sabina Allen grabbed a top-five finish for the Camels, reaching a height of 5-1 (1.55m) to place third overall.
Men's Shot Put
Ethan Mitchell turned in a personal-best performance in the throws event, recording a mark of 45-10 (13.97m) to place 11th in one of his signature events. Sharaj Prince also threw in the event, placing 22nd after a toss of 42-0 (12.80m).
Men's Javelin Throw
Ethan Mitchell posted the best individual field finish of the day for the Camels, taking the bronze medal with a heave of 175-10 (53.60m).
