HIGH POINT, N.C. - Campbell picked up three All-Conference honors and advanced eight competitors to Saturday's finals on the second day of the 2015 Big South Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday evening.
Jacob Kipserem turned in the top performance of the day for the Camels, placing second overall in the men's 3,000m steeplechase. Davian Rhodes and Shenelle McKay both picked up bronze medals in the men's and women's high jump, respectively.
Campbell will field finalists in five different events after Friday's action, spearheaded by Lilla Juhasz who will represent the Camels in both the women's 100m dash and 100m hurdles.
The men sit fourth overall in the team standings with 45 points after Friday's events, while the women are ninth with nine points. Liberty leads both the male (172.5 points) and female (98.5 points) competitions.
Following is an event-by-event recap of Campbell's action from Day 2 of the 2015 Big South Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by High Point at Vert Stadium.
Men's 100m Dash (Prelims)
Fabian Jarrett posted a personal-best time of 10.92 to place seventh and advance to the finals in the sprint event. DeAndre Douglas took ninth after a run of 11.00, and Jacob Carter's time of 12.16 earned him a 14th-place finish.
Women's 100m Dash (Prelims)
Lilla Juhasz captured her heat and placed third with a run of 11.91 to advance to the finals. Sabina Allen also competed for Campbell, finishing 11th in 12.37.
Women's 100m Hurdles (Prelims)
Lilla Juhasz won her heat and finished second overall in 13.75 to advance to Saturday's finals. She will be joined by fellow Camel Tatiana Wolfe who took fifth with a time of 14.03.
Men's 400m Dash (Prelims)
Nate Kennedy was the lone representative for the Camels and narrowly missed advancing to the finals, placing 10th overall with a performance of 50.25.
Women's 400m Dash (Prelims)
Lynette Akai turned in the top time in the preliminary heats, breaking the tape in 54.88. Jocelyn Culbreath will join her in Saturday's finals after placing seventh in 56.70. Asia Olds (12th, 57.35) and Racheal Brown (19th, 59.24) also competed for the Camels.
Men's 800m Run (Prelims)
Morgan Timiney led the Campbell contingent, advancing to the finals with a fifth-place finish in 1:55.19. Eric Baldwin will join him in the finals after finishing ninth overall with a run of 1:55.74. Michael Bedell placed 15th in the mid-distance run with a time of 1:59.20, and Mason Holt crossed the line in 2:04.14 to finish 19th.
Women's 800m Run (Prelims)
A quartet of Camels competed in the mid-distance event, led by Kelsey Rea's 12th-place finish in 2:18.88. Kaelyn Yoder was up next in 15th, breaking the tape in a personal-best time of 2:21.70. Rounding out the group were Brianna Meyrick (17th, 2:32.21) and Alfreda Hagans (18th, 2:33.84).
Men's 3,000m Steeplechase
Jacob Kipserem, the school record holder in the event, earned the silver medal and All-Conference honors for the Camels, crossing the line in 9:09.75.
Men's High Jump
Davian Rhodes earned All-Big South honors in his signature events, reaching a personal-best height of 6-11 (2.11m) to grab the bronze medal. Marcus Mize and Taylor Swanson also competed for Campbell, with Mize placing 12th with a height of 5-9.25 (1.76m) and Swanson reaching the same height to take 13th.
Women's High Jump
Shenelle McKay earned All-Conference honors with a third-place finish in the jumps event, posting a mark of 5-5 (1.65m). Jocelyn Culbreath took sixth with a mark of 5-3 (1.60m), while Andriel Strachan hit 4-9 (1.45m) to take 14th place.
Men's Shot Put
The duo of Ethan Mitchell (44-4.25/13.52m) and Sharaj Prince (43-10.5/13.37m) competed for the Camels, taking 11th and 12th, respectively. Prince's toss represents a new personal-best throw.
Men's Discus Throw
Sharaj Prince posted a personal-best throw in the competition, placing 12th overall with a heave of 130-4 (39.72m).
