HIGH POINT, N.C. - Campbell's women improved six positions on the final day of the 2015 Big South Outdoor Track and Field Championships to finish third overall, while the men earned a fourth-place finish on Saturday afternoon at High Point's Vert Stadium.
The Camels earned three individual championships on Saturday, one on the men's side and two for the women. Lilla Juhasz crossed the line in 13.32 in the women's 100m hurdles to claim the crown in that event and match the meet record, while Lawrence Kipkoech earned his second championship in three days with a run of 14:53.09 in the men's 5,000m run. Lynette Akai also earned the gold in the women's 400m dash with a time of 54.34.
"I'm extremely proud of both of our teams' performances this weekend," Head Coach Michael Kelly said of the finishes. "In the four years that I have been coaching at Campbell, this is the best combined finish we have had for the outdoor season."
In total, Campbell earned eight individual All-Big South honors on Saturday and also earned All-Conference accolades in a pair of relay events on the women's side. Sabina Allen also set a new school record in the women's triple jump, clearing 40-10.25 (12.45m).
Kipkoech claimed both the 2015 Male Freshman of the Year and 2015 Outstanding Male Track Performer awards, while Nate Kennedy and Lynette Akai earned spots on the Big South All-Academic Team.
Liberty swept both the men's and women's crowns, finishing with 288.5 and 210.5 points, respectively. The Camels completed the three-day meet with 101 points for the men and 95 points for the women.
"Our women had a near flawless final day of competition which helped us secure a third place finish," Kelly said. "Our men also did not give up the fight and brought everything they had until the end."
Following is an event-by-event recap of the final day of the 2015 Big South Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by High Point at Vert Stadium.
Men's 100m Dash
Fabian Jarrett crossed the line in a personal-best time of 10.77 to finish seventh overall in the finals of the sprint.
Women's 100m Dash
Lilla Juhasz sped to All-Big South honors, grabbing the bronze medal with a finish of 11.99.
Women's 100m Hurdles
Lilla Juhasz claimed the Big South championship in the short hurdles event, breaking the tape in 13.32 for the Camels to tie Mulern Jean's meet record. Tatiana Wolfe took fourth place with a run of 13.81.
Men's 200m Dash
Fabian Jarrett powered to a sixth-place finish in the sprint with a run of 22.14.
Women's 200m Dash
Lynette Akai narrowly missed claiming All-Big South honors in one of her signature events, crossing the line in 24.69 for a fourth-place finish.
Women's 400m Dash
Lynette Akai's run of 54.34 in the finals gave Campbell another championship on the women's side and pushed the senior to All-Big South honors. Jocelyn Culbreath also competed for the Camels, finishing in 55.36 to take fourth overall.
Women's 400m Hurdles
Tatiana Wolfe finished eighth overall in the finals of the hurdles event, crossing the line in 1:04.11.
Men's 800m Run
Eric Baldwin and Morgan Timiney earned back-to-back finishes in the finals, taking seventh (1:57.15) and eighth (2:14.54), respectively.
Men's 1,500m Run
Morgan Timiney claimed All-Conference honors by winning the bronze medal, crossing the line in 3:55.22. He was closely followed by Eric Baldwin, whose time of 3:56.84 gave him a fourth-place finish.
Women's 1,500m Run
Joan Maritim claimed the silver medal and All-Big South honors with a run of 4:29.40 as the lone Campbell representative in the mid-distance run.
Men's 5,000m Run
Lawrence Kipkoech earned his second individual Big South championship of the meet in the distance event, finishing in a time of 14:53.09 to earn the gold medal. Amon Terer finished just over one second behind, crossing the line in 14:54.72 to claim second place. Jacob Kipserem's time of 15:06.10 pushed him to a fourth-place finish, and Evan Darm rounded out the Campbell quartet in seventh place after a run of 15:19.09.
Women's 5,000m Run
Joan Maritim picked up a fourth-place finish, just missing All-Conference honors with a time of 17:40.86.
Men's 4x100m Relay
Lorne Jenkins, Fabian Jarrett, DeAndre Douglas and Nate Kennedy teamed for a fifth-place finish, breaking the tape in 42.21.
Women's 4x100m Relay
The team of Sabina Allen, Lilla Juhasz, Asia Olds and Jocelyn Culbreath earned the silver medal and All-Conference honors in the 400m relay after a time of 46.56.
Men's 4x400m Relay
Nate Kennedy, Fabian Jarrett, Michael Bedell and Lorne Jenkins turned in a performance of 3:19.37 to finish fifth overall in the 1,600m relay.
Women's 4x400m Relay
Jocelyn Culbreath, Asia Olds, Racheal Brown and Lynette Akai fell just shy of setting a new school record in the event but earned All-Big South accolades and silver medals with a run of 3:43.25.
Men's Triple Jump
Lorne Jenkins led the Campbell duo in the event with a leap of 48-10.75 (14.90m), a new personal-best mark by more than two feet, to finish fifth. Taylor Swanson also set a new personal-best mark with a jump of 43-8 (13.31m) to finish 10th overall.
Women's Triple Jump
Sabina Allen earned All-Big South honors and the silver medal in the jumps event, setting a new school record by nearly six inches with a long leap of 40-10.25 (12.45m). Jaszlyn Jenkins placed fifth overall after a personal-best jump of 38-9 (11.81m), while Shenelle McKay took sixth with a mark of 38-0.25 (11.59m).
