CLINTON, S.C. – Julia Callicutt tossed a one-hit shutout in the nightcap to lead Campbell to a 2-0 win and a Big South Conference softball doubleheader sweep Saturday over Presbyterian.

In the opener, Ericka Nesbitt and Camise Patterson each had four hits and Campbell (27-25, 7-15) notched a 7-3 victory.

Campbell extended its winning streak to a season-best six games by limiting the Blue Hose (22-23, 10-11) to only two earned runs and six hits on the day.

Kayla Dunlap's third inning single was the lone hit against Callicutt (13-8), who struck out 10 and walked just two batters.  The senior right-hander threw 98 pitches, 66 for strikes, to secure her third-straight win and second shutout of the season.  She retired the final 15 PC batters of the day.

The only runs of the nightcap came in the Campbell third when Nesbitt singled and Stephanie Jones followed with her eighth home run of the season.

Kensley Loudermelk (12-8) took the loss for PC, allowing two runs on six hits with no walks and three strikeouts.

In the opener, the Camels left the bases loaded in the first inning, but scored twice in both the second and third to take a 4-0 lead.  With two out in the second, Nesbitt drove in a pair with a single up the middle.

Patterson's two-out, two-run single in the third doubled the Camel lead.  She added her 10th home run of the season to put the Camels in front 5-2 in the fifth.  Kersten Legacki's RBI double cut the margin to 5-3 in the bottom of the frame.

Consecutive two-out hits by Patterson, Nesbitt, Jones and Bailey Bjorson, whose single drove in two, provided the final margin for the Camels in the seventh.

Katie Baker (13-14) went the distance for the Camels, giving up two earned runs on five hits with one walk and six strikeouts.  Katie Brown (4-2) took the loss after allowing two runs on four hits in one and 2/3 innings.

Nesbitt finished the day 6-of-8 to raise her Big South-leading batting average to .443.  The teams conclude the regular season Sunday with a single game starting at 1:00 p.m.

Campbell hosts the Big South Conference Championship next Thurs.-Sun. (May 7-10) at Amanda Littlejohn Stadium.
