Washington attends WBCA Center for Coaching Excellence

ATLANTA - Campbell assistant coach Janice Washington attended the Women's Basketball Coaches' Association Center for Coaching Excellence August 13-14, an elite leadership program that provides an exclusive learning experience for coaches.

Created by Dr. M. Dianne Murphy and Dr. Cathie T. Siders, the Center for Coaching Excellence provides organized instruction and extensive self-reflection and incorportates the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator personality test, allowing for individual customization of the learning experience.

"I am very humbled and honored to have been invited to attend this event. Dianne and Cathie did a phenomenal job of facilitating this event. I was both encouraged and challenged throughout the event and look forward to putting the great lessons into action," Washington said of her experience.

More than 250 coaches have attended the program since its inception in 2011. The most recent session marks the first time that CCE has been held away from the campus of Columbia University, which held a parternship with the program until June 2015.

The Atlanta session also marked the first time that CCE was held for assistant coaches. In total, 49 assistant coaches were in attendance at the program made possible by an NCAA professional development grant.

Last season, Washington attended the WBCA Marine Corps Coaches Leadership Workshop in Parris Island, S.C.

"I had the opportunity to bounce thoughts and ideas off other coaches. I definitely appreciate Coach Watkins' encouragement of my attendance at this event, as well as the WBCA for investing in our assistant coaches and putting on a fantastic event," Washington said.
