BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Seven points from senior Ashley Clark powered the Camels in a thrilling 4-3 double-overtime victory against the Albany Great Danes on Monday evening at the Eakes Athletic Complex.

Clark scored two goals to open the match before completing her first career hat-trick in the 64th minute of play. She also provided the lone assist on Payton Ormsby's game-winning goal in the second overtime session.

In the 102nd minute play, Clark found herself with the ball at her feet on the right side of the field. She played a high-arching cross to the six yard box where it was met by Ormsby, along with Albany goalkeeper Alana Brennan and an Albany defender. Brennan was unable to maintain control of the ball as she fell to the ground leaving Ormsby with a wide open net to connect on for the game-winner.

"We have been instilling in this team, regardless of score, time or half, is that you fight and you keep fighting until the end of the match," said head coach Stuart Horne. "A game like this is something we will look back on later in the season to remind them and to emphasize how hard we are willing and have fought to do what we need to do to win"

Clark opened the scoring in the 17th minute when she received a long ball from freshman Anna Brantley. After allowing a bounce, Clark was able to finesse a shot over the charging Brennan from 17 yards away.

Seven minutes later, Clark showed her chip shot ability again. She found herself on the receiving end of an Albany misplay and used the outside of her foot to chip Brennan for her second of the match.

Albany drew to within one goal in the 33rd minute as Alexa Schneider was able to get on the receiving end of a Caitlyn Paltsios corner kick, burying a header beyond Connors.

The two goal lead was regained in the 63rd minute as Clark completed her hat-trick. A cross was served in from Shannon Wratchford and Clark was able to redirect the ball into the far post.

26 seconds later, Kiana Ruger took a strike from 20 yards away towards a diving Connors. Connors was unable to keep a grasp on the shot and the ball slipped into the back of the net.

In the 81st minute, Vivian Vega was in the right spot at the right time for the Great Danes for the equalizer. A free kick from Paltsios deflected off of Schneider then towards Vega who then redirected it again to the opposite side of an outstretched Alexis Connors.

Campbell was clinical in the contest as they connected on 10 shots, all of which reached target. Albany fired off 26 shots but only had 13 reach goal. Connors finished with 10 saves, tying a career-high set against Radford on October 27, 2012.
